Bring on Book Week!

In anticipation of next week’s Book Week celebrations, our Primary readers have been enjoying their refreshed reading and learning space in the Level 2 Library of the Reg St Leon Building.

The Library staff have redesigned components of the Library to allow more space for our younger readers to enjoy as planning for the IGS Bibliothèque continues.

This year’s Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) Book Week theme is “Find Your Treasure”.

The annual Book Character Dress Up Parade will take place on Monday 20 August from 9am in the School Hall. Students from Kindergarten to Year 6 are invited to come to school dressed as their favourite book character, and bring along the book to match their outfit.

Book Week is the longest running children’s festival in Australia and is warmly celebrated each year at IGS, highlighting the importance of reading within our school community.

There will be many other exciting Book Week activities at IGS, such as an author visit from Tristan Bancks.

We look forward to sharing more Book Week fun in our next edition of InFocus.
