Bottle tops for Helping Hands

The IGS Sustainable Futures Club is collecting plastic bottle tops to be made into prosthetic hands.

Head of High School Anthony Dennehy praised Francesca of Year 9 and Talulla and Eve of Year 8 for their initiative and persistence in setting up the scheme, which will help reduce waste and offer some humanitarian assistance.

The students are encouraging the IGS community to leave the right kinds of bottle tops in the red bins with yellow lids until the end of term.

Hands are given to people in war-torn and developing countries, as well as creating a better use of the waste. The students said more than 20 billion plastic bottle tops are polluting the world’s oceans.
