Beautiful Work: Year 10, wellbeing and Salsa dancing

Year 10 students are exploring the topics of mental wellbeing, emotional responses, diet and the effect media can have on young people's lives.

Throughout their “Live Long and Prosper” unit, students discuss and critically analyse the influences on their lives now and into the future.

The unit aims to expose student to a range of physical activities that will help in maintaining all areas of health.

In Term 1, students will be participating in Salsa dancing.

IGS PDHPE Teacher Lucy Haynes said she is proud of how engaged and open minded students have been to take on something new and participate with smiles on their faces.

“The encouragement and positivity of every student influenced others to participate while demonstrating respectful and inclusive behaviours,” she said.

“I’m so proud of how engaged and open minded they were to take on something new and participate with smiles on their faces for the whole double lesson.”

Students will consider:

How can I be the best version of me and support the identity of others?

How can I plan and advocate for health, safety, wellbeing and participation in a lifetime of physical activity?

Why are external influences an important aspect of my own and others’ health, safety, wellbeing and participation in a lifetime of physical activity?
