Beautiful Work: Language learning deepens in Japanese

Young Japanese students started their Language Journey for the 2021 Academic Year by learning about one of the most significant events in Japan, the Oshogatsu, or ‘New year’.

Students learned about special decorations, foods, games and activities Japanese people enjoy on Oshogatsu.

Students also tried “kakizome”, which is the first calligraphy written at the beginning of a year.

Using a special brush they wrote 「うし」 which is this year’s zodiac. Younger students wrote a special ねんがじょうcard with a special greeting on New Year’s day and a picture of 「うし」.
