Aboriginal Studies students power ahead

Year 11 students undertaking the compressed Aboriginal Studies course attended two five-hour workshops during their holidays.

After just seven months of study, they will sit their trial HSC examinations alongside Year 12 students who have been studying the course for two years.

“These students will know what they are talking about,” said Head of Indigenous Education and Stage 6 Aboriginal Studies Teacher Jade Carr.

“This is Australia’s history. There’s a lot of change that needs to be made. The next generation will be well informed to go into the fields of health and justice and make those changes.”
