We are off to an exciting new year as we embark upon new adventures in the world of language learning. Each year provides important transitions and the acquisition of new language experiences that will enhance each student’s ability to apply learning in many ways.
Language learning will become an important, fun and enjoyable part of your child’s learning. I hope the new primary students have begun to settle into the IGS scene and have enjoyed the first few days, getting to know their teacher and their peers.
At first, some of them will find it overwhelming being immersed in a new language. This is normal and with support from your teachers and parents, you will feel more comfortable and confident as time goes by.
Our skilled and devoted staff are ready, energised and committed and we will continue to focus on providing a quality language program and building on our achievements.
Each year brings positive change. This includes a few additions to our Primary staff. We are delighted to welcome Laurene Serret, Romana Stjepanovic, Mario Gava, and Julia Burfitt and of course a welcome back to existing language staff.
We begin the year with Language Information Evenings:
Thursday 6 February Stage 2 (Years 3 and 4)
Thursday 13 February Stage 3 (Years 5 and 6)
Thank you for joining us and supporting us.
These evenings are important. They are carefully planned and will help you understand what the students will be doing during the year and what the expectations are. They are a great way to start the year and help build and maintain links between teachers and parents.
Other dates for the diary:
Friday 20 March: Students Dress up in National Costume or the colour orange for
Harmony Day, taking place on Saturday 21 March this year.
Wednesday 3 to Friday 5 April: Years 4 to 6 Language Camps
Performance Assembly dates for each class will be provided shortly.
While our date for IGS International Day is yet to be set, let’s begin the year by joining in the celebrations for the Year of the Rat. View details here.
Look out for the French Film Festival coming up in March.
Hoping you are relaxed, recharged and ready to start a new school year.
