A bright celebration

Year 1 added to their appreciation of other cultures with a memorable Diwali activity.

“One of our students, Maya, made a video with her mum to show her classmates how to create diyas to take home to place in front of their doors to invite the light into their homes,” said Year 1 teacher Jasmin Flyte.

The Diwali (or Divali) festival of lights takes place during the Hindu Lunisolar month Kartika (between mid-October and mid-November) and is celebrated mainly by Hindus, Jains and Sikhs. The festival usually lasts five days.
