Languages and Music

Early languages and music program

At IGS, bilingual language immersion and music lessons begin in Preschool.

The daily program in Early Learning includes a 30 minute language lesson in either French, German, Italian or Japanese. Language is natural and authentic, and is absorbed through revision and immersion in songs, rhymes and games around theme areas, facilitating good pronunciation and retention.

Music is an integral part of the program in Early Learning. Music lessons take place for 20 minutes each day and are taught by our specialist music staff using the Orff Schulwerk method — an aural based music method designed specifically for young children. It is based on things children like to do: sing, clap, dance, chant rhymes and make rhythms using their hands or a variety of instruments.
