School Counsellor

The School Counsellor is a clinical psychologist who works with students, families and staff at IGS from preschool to Year 12. The goals of student counselling are to support the social, emotional and developmental needs of IGS students, staff and families.

The Counsellor provides a wide range of short or long-term individual, group, family and classroom support interventions. The Counsellor also works with external and visiting specialists where necessary. Students may be referred by teachers or parents, or may seek assistance directly.

At all levels, the Counsellor works with the Dean of Students to provide general mental health education across designated Year Groups. The Counsellor also provides consultation and training to teaching staff.

The school currently employs one full-time and one part-time Counsellor.
