Revving up computational thinking skills

Students from Years 4 to 6 worked in teams to tackle computational thinking questions last week, as part of the 2018 Bebras Challenge.

“It was wonderful to see the students work as a team to select the correct response to a given puzzle,” said IGS Primary Digital Innovator and Educator David Smith.

“The students had lots of fun working on these Maths and Science based puzzles.”

What is the Bebras Australia Challenge?

The Bebras Challenge is an international student computational thinking test. Bebras Australia is run by the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) Education and Outreach sector, through the Digital Careers program.

The goal is to promote computational thinking to students in a way that highlights students’ abilities beyond Science or Maths skills.

Last year our Junior School students went exceedingly well in the challenge, and we hope to continue the high results this year.
