Global learning experiences

As students continue to share stories of their adventures in India with Antipodeans, or from our recent regional NSW music tour, others are preparing for trips still to come.

IGS students can enjoy a number of exciting global opportunities that aim further develop their intercultural knowledge. Here’s a taste of what’s to come:

Term 2

Red Earth Indigenous Immersion expedition to central Australia, Sunday 1 to Tuesday 10 July 2018. Students in Year 9 will visit regions of central Australia, assisting communities in the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) lands.

NASA STEM Expedition to USA, Sunday 1 to Saturday 14 July: A two-week trip to Houston Space Centre and the Astronaut Training Centre in Hunstville, Alabama. Open to students in Years 7 to 9.

Oxford University Summer Camp, June/July (dates tbc): IGS students in Year 11 (must be 16 years old) will take part in a unique study program where they can choose from a range of courses and learn from Oxford University professors with other students from around the world. Students will stay on campus in an Oxford College and have the opportunity to take part in day trips such as visiting London and Bath.

Term 3

IGS exchange program to Japan, Wednesday 12 to Friday 28 September: Students in Years 10 and 11. The exchange program operates through sister school relationships.

IGS exchange program to Madrid, Saturday 22 September to Sunday 14 October: Students in Years 8 and 9. The exchange program operates through sister school relationships.

History and Drama tour to Italy, Monday 24 September to Wednesday 10 October: Students in Years 9 to 11 will explore historic regions of Italy, gaining a greater understanding if it’s past and the dramatic arts.

Term 4

IGS exchange program to Europe (France, Germany, Italy and Spain), November/December (dates tbc): Students in Years 10 and 11. The exchange program operates through sister school relationships.

Back home in Australia in Term 4, students in Years 7 to 10 will take part in the School’s limitless learning project, SAGE.
SAGE cuts across disciplines and gives students inspirational, real world, project-based learning experiences outside the classroom for a full week. The 2018 SAGE program will take place from Monday 12 to Friday 16 November.
