Fresh insights for top game

Year 11 and 12 PDHPE students recently attended a sports science camp at Sydney Academy of Sport and Recreation, Narrabeen.

Students gained insight into the methods of elite athletes in order for them to maintain peak physical fitness, and be at the top of their game.

“It was great to put the theory we learn in class into practice under the tuition of professionals in the industry,” Orla of Year 12 said.

A camp highlight included meeting with Olympic and Commonwealth Games 400m sprinter Anneliese Rubie, who shared her vast knowledge in nutrition, psychology, training techniques, motivation, goal setting and what it feels like to walk into the Olympic Stadium.

Anneliese was very interesting and gave great insight into what it takes to be a professional athlete,” Orla said.

Students left the camp fresh with valuable insights and experiences.
